We know that it can be a daunting and worrying time when you get a diagnosis of cancer. We want you and your family members to know that there is help and support for you outside of the hospital setting. So whether it is worries about money and work, or just about how you are feeling, there are avenues for support available to you. The links below show some of the various options available.

We offer people affected by cancer access to good quality information and support. You may have cancer yourself, care for a friend or relative, work as a healthcare professional or simply want to know more about cancer.

The centre is staffed by Macmillan Information Specialists who are supported by trained volunteers.

Some of the free information and support we offer includes:

  • Confidential one-to-one support
  • Arranging complementary therapies
  • Information on diet and nutrition

Local support groups

Local groups are for anyone affected by cancer. You can share as little or as much as you like. You do not have to talk about anything you do not want do. Some people find it takes a few visits before they feel comfortable sharing.

Meetings sometimes include activities, a social event or a talk from a guest speaker. Most groups are free. Some may charge for tea and biscuits or welcome donations for the complementary therapies or counselling they offer.

Cancer Support UK: Supporting People with Cancer, During and After Treatment

We provide practical and emotional support to people with cancer, during and after the treatment period.

We support people with all kinds of cancer across the UK. Our services are designed and delivered by people who have experienced cancer themselves – to improve the experience of others.

Care and support through terminal illness | Marie Curie

Care and support at the end of life. We believe everyone should get to lead the best life they can, right to the end.

Not sure about something

You can always get in touch with our care navigators at the surgery (previously known as receptionists). They maybe be able to guide you to the right place or person and if they think you need to speak to one of our social link workers/social prescribers, or one of our nurses they can arrange this too.
