The most recent strain of covid which is currently circulating is causing sore throat and tonsillitis like symptoms. We have had several patients who were thought to have tonsillitis subsequently test positive. So if you do have a cold or flu like illness with a sore throat - consider doing a covid 19 test (available from local pharmacies).
